iPass to Integrate Wi-Fi and STSN Broadband Network

In the first roaming agreement for network operator STSN, iPass will work to integrate Wi-Fi and Ethernet access points at more than 500 hotels into the iPass virtual network for enterprises

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. and SALT LAKE CITY, May 28 /Wi-Fi Technology News/ -- iPass Inc. (http://www.ipass.com/) and STSN Inc. (http://www.stsn.com/), the worldwide leader in broadband Internet services to hotels, announced today an agreement to provide iPass customers with high-speed Wi-Fi and Ethernet Internet access at the more than 500 business-grade hotels in the STSN provider network. The network aggregation agreement gives iPass the ability to integrate into its virtual network the extensive STSN network of broadband Internet-enabled hotels. It is the first such roaming agreement for STSN.

"STSN is committed to delivering more value to hotel partners and business travelers with greater assurances of speed, security and simplicity," said David Garrison, CEO of STSN. "The iPass service is used by thousands of business travelers every month. There has been anticipation by many enterprises, which have been hoping to use the iPass service at STSN's network of business-grade hotels. STSN increases business guest satisfaction, which is another compelling reason for hotels to partner with us."

STSN-enabled hotels provide secure, high-speed wired-Ethernet or wireless Wi-Fi (802.11a/b) connectivity services in guest rooms, conference facilities and common areas. As performed with all of its roaming partners, iPass will validate STSN's network against rigorous quality assessment and operations tests and enable interoperability with the leading VPNs, personal firewall and policy management systems. Upon passing this battery of tests, the STSN network will be certified by iPass as "Enterprise Ready" and will then be integrated into the iPass virtual network.

"Because iPass is focused on building a service for enterprise users, hotels are one of the most important venues in our Global Broadband Roaming service," said Ken Denman, CEO of iPass. "STSN is a pioneer in bringing high- speed Internet into major hotel brands. iPass is working to integrate the STSN hotel venues into the iPass service to enable additional secure high- speed connectivity options across North America where enterprise IT departments can send their mobile workforce and improve corporate productivity."

"iPass has tested the networks for all of the more than 1,500 Wi-Fi hotspots and 500 Ethernet-enabled venues in its Global Broadband Roaming service and certified them as Enterprise Ready," said John Yunker, analyst in the Business Strategies Group at Pyramid Research. "With more than 500 business grade hotels in its network, STSN is clearly a major service provider to the hospitality industry. This roaming agreement between STSN and iPass should be very welcome news to enterprises offering ample choices and coverage for the mobile enterprise employee."
