Motorola Announces the Motorola CN620, Dual-Network Wi-Fi Phone

    Motorola Makes Seamless Mobility Real

Company announces world?s first integrated, dual-network phone, slimmest clam, Apple iTunes? alliance, home remote control, his-and-hers TV, and fingerprints-on-demand

ROSEMONT, Ill. -/July 27, 2004 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- On the eve of its annual financial analysts meeting, Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) unveiled groundbreaking products and partnerships that will create a seamless mobile experience for customers.

?People want to stay connected to the ones they love, the information they need and the gadgets that keep their lives humming -- and we?re making it possible,? said Ed Zander, chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola. ?People?s connections don?t end at a doorway; they need smooth transitions from home to car to office and everywhere in between. We?ve got the technologies and the vision, and today?s announcements prove Motorola is making seamless mobility real.?

The company?s latest products in home monitoring, handsets featuring push-to-talk technology, 3G, EDGE, megapixel cameras and various public-service devices will be demonstrated by Zander at a media event today.

    OUT IN THE WORLD
? Motorola RAZR V3 -- The ultra-thin Motorola RAZR V3 (just under 14mm) features a large (2.2?) display, external color display viewfinder, integrated camera, Bluetooth? wireless technology, MPEG video playback, and a 3D graphics engine.

? iTunes? Alliance -- Motorola and Apple announced a strategic alliance to bring the iTunes? music player to Motorola?s next-generation mobile handsets. Music lovers will be able to transfer favorite songs from the iTunes? jukebox on their Mac or PC, to Motorola?s next-generation 'always with you' mobile handsets, via a USB or Bluetooth connection.

? Very EDGE-Capable -- The Motorola A780 and V551 both combine the power of EDGE technology with advanced features and sophisticated design elements. Part of a complete 3G and 2.5G technology suite including solutions for GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS -- these new handsets are designed to help operators drive revenue by delivering compelling end-user experiences.

? Motorola C/V975 -- We?re making mobile broadband a reality with the ultra chic clamshell V975 and super slim candybar C975 -- the latest products to join Motorola?s extensive 3G handset stable. These exciting new mobiles deliver exceptional value with cutting-edge 3G technology at an affordable price, enabling consumers to experience an array of multi-media features -- from application and game downloads to shooting and sharing video with friends, family, and colleagues.

    ENTERPRISE
? Motorola CN620 -- the world?s first integrated dual network (802.11 and cellular) for both voice and data communications. With the CN620, business users can seamlessly move from their company?s wireless network onto the cellular network without interruption. Enabled by a convergence of technologies, the new CN620 provides businesses with cost-savings opportunities, new user efficiencies, and enhanced communication capabilities.

? Motorola MPx220 -- With seamless access to Pocket Outlook? and Pocket Internet Explorer, the busy professional will never miss an email, IM or a call. The quad band, Motorola MPx220 with Windows Mobile? software is the first truly powerful phone-first e-mail device. It makes email access easier and more flexible than ever, allowing the user to send and receive email over the air -- synchronizing all of your information real-time. In addition, the MPx220 offers an integrated 1.2 megapixel camera with flash and advanced multi-media messaging service (MMS).

    MISSION CRITICAL
? Mobile Automated Fingerprint Identification System -- The Mobile Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) helps the good guys take their labs with them wherever they go. Mobile AFIS allows law enforcement and homeland security agents to rapidly establish identity by granting on-scene access to fingerprints, facial images and relevant record information and documents.

? Soft Switched Radio Network -- Motorola?s Soft Switched Radio Network (SSRN) enables first responders from different jurisdictions operating on different radio systems to quickly and affordably achieve interoperability. The SSRN uses standard Internet Protocol (IP) signaling and is the most advanced form of a ?gateway? or ?switch? because it seamlessly connects users from systems on different frequencies or platforms.

    HOME
? Ojo? Personal Video Phone -- The Motorola Ojo? Personal Video Phone enables true-to-life, face-to-face communications with full-motion video and synchronized audio. Part of Motorola?s ?connected home? product portfolio, Ojo helps consumers and small businesses have richer, more personal conversations with people important to them by using broadband to bridge the physical distance between them.

? Motorola High-Definition Dual-Tuner Digital Video Recorder -- The Motorola DCT6412 high-definition dual-tuner digital video recorder gives you control over your home entertainment experience by letting you watch what you want, when you want. This digital cable set-top offers popular ?trick-play? features, such as pause and rewind of ?live? television, and can record both standard- and high-definition broadcasts.

? Home Media Architecture -- Motorola Home Media Architecture (HMA) enables consumers to enjoy access to stored media on connected devices throughout the home. With HMA, you can watch or schedule recordings of your favorite shows from anywhere in your home.

? Motorola Home Monitoring and Control System -- The Motorola Home Monitoring and Control System HMEZ1000 lets you monitor near real-time video from wireless cameras in your home, remotely control devices such as thermostats or lighting fixtures, and receive alerts to a mobile phone or e-mail account if certain user-programmable conditions occur.

Motorola also announced several other exciting new developments, including:

? Verizon -- Motorola and Verizon Wireless signed a three-year general purchasing agreement to increase Verizon Wireless? network capacity and coverage. Verizon Wireless will deploy Motorola?s CDMA2000 1X radio base stations, IP call processing platforms and advanced messaging solutions in major markets.

? VIVO-- has awarded Motorola?s Brazilian subsidiary, Motorola Industrial Ltda., a major contract for 25 Motorola SoftSwitches for CDMA (MSS-C). Commercial deployment is already underway in Londriana.

? OFDM -- Motorola Labs, through extensive research and field tests over the past four years has established Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) as a key technology in the next generation of heterogeneous wireless networks. It has proven 30-year-old existing technology can be applied to high-speed mobile networks to deliver peak downlink speeds of up to 300 Mbps. This research demonstrates that future all-IP mobile networks using OFDM technology have the capability to provide a broadband user experience, previously thought to be unattainable.
