Contec Innovations Highlighted at Monte Jade Technology Mission in Asia
Vancouver, Canada -/August 07, 2004 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Contec Innovations (TSX Venture Exchange ? Symbol ?BUZ?) gained significant exposure at the Monte Jade Technology Mission to Asia held in late June. Monte Jade Science & Technology Association (Western Canada), in partnership with the National Research Council (NRC), organized the 14-day technology mission to Seoul, Hong Kong and Shanghai with information technology and communications companies.
The mission focused on partnering with qualified companies in Korea, Hong Kong and China.
The mission provided the opportunity for Contec?s senior management to meet with key industry leaders, potential and existing customers, potential strategic investors and business partners and government officials. While in China, management presented Contec to top-level executives from China Mobile (world?s largest mobile phone operator) and China Unicom (second largest mobile operator in China).
Frank Pho, Director, Monte Jade (Western Canada) and Managing Director, Information technology, of the Venture Capital Group at the Business Development Bank of Canada commented, "The mission was successful in bringing together some of the best emerging Canadian IT/telecom companies with business and financial leaders in Seoul, Hong Kong and Shanghai. We were extremely happy to contribute to Contec?s efforts in Asia".
"We would like to thank Monte Jade (Western Canada) and the National Research Council for organizing this technology mission to Asia. This mission was an enormous success for Contec providing us with new opportunities to market our company and products to several highly qualified potential customers, partners and investors in China, Hong Kong and Korea", said Perry Quan, President and CEO of Contec Innovations.
While in Hong Kong, a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre Ltd. (HKWDC) and Contec Innovations was held. The signing ceremony took place at HKWDC?s facility at Cyberport in Hong Kong and was attended by representatives of HKWDC, Contec Innovations, The National Research Council and the Canadian Consulate. It was a significant milestone for HKWDC and Contec as it marked the launch of formal ties between each company.
In June of this year, Contec announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre Ltd. (HKWDC) for the deployment of Contec?s Hornet? DE mobile services delivery platform. The Hornet will be installed in Q3 of this year in HKWDC?s facility at Cyberport in Hong Kong and will be connected to all six mobile operators in Hong Kong: CSL, Hutchison, SmarTone, Sunday, New World and Peoples.
The relationship between HKWDC and Contec, and the Hornet installation at HKWDC?s facility, will be instrumental in helping Contec build the developer network in Hong Kong that is part of the Company?s global Hornet Developer Network (HDN) strategy. The Company?s HDN initiative calls for building out a network of interconnected Hornets across the globe that can provide wireless application developers, Service Providers and Mobile Network Operators with an environment to collaborate on application development and commercialization opportunities.
Nicholas Fong an Industrial Technology Advisor of the National Research Council (NRC) stated, "As NRC's representative at the MOU signing ceremony between HKWDC and Contec, I was pleased to see the level of enthusiasm around the upcoming Contec Hornet installation at HKWDC."
