Fujitsu Services Joins Forces With iPass
Gains accreditation as iPass solution partner, rolls out iPass Corporate Access? to thousands of employees.
London, UK -/August 16, 2004 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), announced that Fujitsu Services Ltd, one of Europe's leading IT infrastructure management services companies is now offering iPass? Corporate Access as part of a comprehensive mobility solution portfolio. As a further indication of its confidence in the capabilities of the iPass service, Fujitsu Services is also deploying iPass Corporate Access to its entire workforce of 14,500.
iPass Corporate Access will provide Fujitsu Services' enterprise customers and employees with secure access to the Internet and corporate applications from over 150 countries. Consultants and sales teams within Fujitsu Services are likely to be the heaviest adopters of the service initially, using iPass to improve service delivery and reduce downtime.
A common access interface will be used to securely access multiple networks including dial, Ethernet, home DSL, wireless hotspots and corporate wireless LANs. Seamless integration of security solutions, such as virtual private networks (VPNs), personal firewalls and anti-virus, ensures data isn't compromised when accessed remotely or over wireless in the office.
"In our search for a technology that would fit seamlessly into our mobility solution, we assessed a number of products based on security, ease-of-use and anywhere, any-medium connectivity. iPass was the clear leader in this field," commented Gary Pooley, Head of Telecom Optimisation, Fujitsu Services. "iPass' ability to work within our security offerings while providing a simple but comprehensive connectivity experience, complements Fujitsu's approach to offering integrated solutions that solve real business issues."
In addition to incorporating iPass Corporate Access into new remote and mobile solutions, Fujitsu Services will offer the service to existing customers as a new communications tool to improve productivity. Demand for mobile access solutions is being driven by a new generation of wireless enabled devices and the proliferation of Wi-Fi hotspots and corporate Wireless LANs but constrained by concerns over security. The iPassConnect? universal client can provide secure authentication and enforces enterprise security policies enabling Fujitsu Services to deliver on the demand whilst allaying fears about security.
Our partnership with Fujitsu Services illustrates iPass' focus on working with leaders in the global services space," commented Doug Loewe, EMEA Managing Director, iPass. "Fujitsu Services' recognised capability to deliver services globally and integrate multiple product offerings, coupled with iPass' leadership in mobile working, is expected to add value for the enterprise connectivity market."
Policy Orchestration to Add an Extra Security Layer
Additionally, iPass recently announced Policy Orchestration, which the company envisions as a layer of software intelligence built into the iPass connectivity platform that will permit iPass services to control and enforce use of enterprise policy-based security systems, such as virtual private networks (VPNs), personal firewalls and anti-virus software, assessment and remediation, patch management, and network compliance capabilities. iPass is designing Policy Orchestration to enable easy-to-manage, comprehensive and coordinated protection of critical business assets over all remote and mobile Internet and corporate connections. iPass expects to offer Policy Orchestration-enabled services, currently under development, in the fourth quarter of 2004.
