3Com Announces Donald M. Halsted, III As Executive Vice President and CFO




MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -/August 17, 2004 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) announced Donald M. Halsted, III as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
"Don’s seasoned financial management experience at global and high tech companies will add tremendous value as he directs 3Com’s finance organization," said Bruce Claflin, 3Com president and CEO. "Don will also be a key member of the senior management team as we execute our plans for profitable growth and market leadership."

Don began his career with IBM in 1979 where he held a number of increasingly responsible positions within its finance organization through 1998. From 1998 to 2003, he held a series of senior finance and operational roles with Polaroid. Most recently he was Vice President of Finance with Invensys. Don holds an M.B.A. and B.S in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, both with distinction.
