Wayport and WeRoam announce Wi-Fi roaming agreement


Customers of the leading global WLAN roaming platform now have access to Wayport´s high-quality wireless network


Austin / Berne, -/27 September, 2004 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- Wayport, one of the world's largest providers of Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) wireless and wired high-speed Internet access to mobile travelers in more than 3,800 locations, and WeRoam, a leading global WLAN roaming platform, today announced a strategic roaming agreement that will enable WeRoam and its worldwide partners to access Wayport's Wi-Fi service.

As WeRoam strengthens its leading position by adding high quality locations to its international wireless hotspot footprint, Wayport's current and future partner locations will benefit from the additional customers from around the world, providing the opportunity for increased usage and revenue.

WeRoam's customers will have access to Wayport's Wi-Fi service in leading hotels, such as Crowne Plaza, Hilton, Sheraton or Westin, and in highly frequented airports, like Seattle or Dallas. WeRoam, providing mobility management and roaming optimization solutions for the mobile and wireless telecommunications sector, is known as the roaming pioneer in the global WLAN market and offers public wireless Internet access at more than 10.000 locations worldwide.

"This agreement reconfirms the commitment we have made to our neutral-host strategy, which opens up our network to key industry players around the world to continually foster the adoption of Wi-Fi, and in turn drive the maximum number of customers to our partner locations" said Dave Vucina, CEO for Wayport. Wayport is one of the world's largest providers of high-speed Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) wireless and wired Internet access for mobile broadband customers in more than 3,800 locations, including nearly 800 major hotels; Wi-Fi wireless Internet access in 11 major airports: Dallas-Fort Worth, Seattle-Tacoma, San Jose, Austin-Bergstrom, Oakland, Buffalo Niagara and others; 16 Laptop Lane airport business centers; McDonald's locations in select cities; and UPS Stores nationwide under Wayport's managed service agreement with SBC.
