OnInstant introduces world’s first intelligent VoIP call forwarding service
– OnInstant’s latest innovations include ‘FollowMe!’, voice conferencing, PSTN interconnect, global business directory enquiries and enhanced interface –
-/29 September, 2004 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/-For the first time, individuals using a VoIP (Voice-over-IP) internet telephony service will be able to have calls re-routed automatically to whatever voice-enabled device they are using – anytime, anywhere.
Called ‘FollowMe!’, the new feature is part of the latest innovation from OnInstant, and is a major enhancement of the Internet business-to-business communications network. The ‘FollowMe!’ service increases business efficiency and availability by using a unique and patent-pending technology that puts through calls automatically to a sequence of pre-set numbers until connection is established.
‘FollowMe!’ is enabled through an agreement between OnInstant and Level 3 Communications for Level 3’s IP-based voice termination service. Now, in addition to communicating without call costs with other OnInstant subscribers, users can make and receive VoIP calls from their personal computers to any voice-enabled device anywhere in the world through PSTN and mobile networks. Calls to UK mobiles will initially cost less than 10p per minute and calls to over 30 countries have been fixed at a rate of 2p or less per minute. All existing OnInstant business customers and new customers will receive a free credit of 200 call minutes.
Voice conferencing
In addition, businesses can now use OnInstant to set up live planned ‘on-net’ voice conference calls with up to five individuals. They can also send person-to-person and person-to-many text- and voicemails at the click of a mouse for free.
The new version of OnInstant also provides an enhanced yet simple, efficient and intuitive user interface through the extended use of XML that should be familiar to users of industry-standard desktop applications.
According to Nick Ogden, chairman and chief executive of OnInstant and founder of the WorldPay global Internet payment system, the new version of OnInstant provides, “a complete platform for all the communication, collaboration and customer management needs of any business.”
Directory service, operator and rapid upgrade
The new version of OnInstant also features a directory service, initially listing 3.4 million business entries, that will be continuously updated. Any company can add their own details at any time for free.
All OnInstant customers will continue to receive their live operator support service.
Registering to the latest version of OnInstant takes as little as ten minutes and current users can upgrade in less then five minutes. By logging on to the OnInstant web site, any new business user can have a month’s free trial. At the end of this period, a single low monthly or quarterly subscription charge is incurred, with absolutely no additional costs. For the first user and company registration the cost of the service is £15 per month, and then businesses pay £4 for every additional user.
