AMX Completes Wireless Solution With Release of New Network Interface Card For Modero Touch Panels
RICHARDSON, Texas, June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AMX Corporation (NASDAQ:AMXC) , a worldwide leader in advanced control system technology, announces the new Network Interface Card, which makes our flagship Modero Touch Panel series completely wireless. This solution provides end users with anywhere, any time control and dealers with the convenience and simplicity of a wire-free installation. The card is certified and currently available only in North America.
"Simplicity, efficiency and convenience are first and foremost in our determination to introduce new technology to the control industry," said Vice President of Marketing Rashid Skaf. "Our goal was to anticipate the needs of our customers and identify the direction we should take our control technology. Building upon the huge success of our award-winning Modero line of Touch Panels, the Network Interface Card is based on the 802.11b Wi-Fi standard."
The Wireless Interface Card plugs directly into the Modero's PCMCIA Card Slot. This enables the Modero Touch Panel to remain wireless, operating from any location within control system environment. No new code is required to switch from wired Ethernet to wireless Ethernet (802.11b). The end user has the freedom to move the Modero between multiple rooms and buildings, while maintaining control of networked equipment.
Difficult wiring logistics in floors, walls and ceilings have historically played a large role in limiting the installers' ability to place AMX Touch Panels in ideal locations. The innovative Wireless Interface Card preserves the integrity of fine furniture and wall structures by eliminating the need to hide unsightly wires and cables. The Modero Touch Panel can now be positioned on antique wood or glass, as well as mounted against any flat surface, in order to create an attractive point of control using the latest AMX wireless technology.
Based on standard IEEE 802.11b protocol, the Wireless Interface Card is compatible with 802.11b Access Points (for both secured and unsecured connections) and operates with Wi-Fi (WECA) certified products. This provides the convenience of taking control through a single communications standard that is recognized and understood by vast segments of electronic equipment. The Wireless Interface Card represents the final piece in creating the Modero Wireless Solution that includes the Battery Base Kit, Power Station, and Power Packs.
