ZTE Corporation Main Sponsors Of Alger Telecomp Event In Algeria
Alger Telecomp, Algiers -/12 Oct, 2004 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- ZTE Corporation, China?s largest supplier of telecommunications equipment, took centre stage at yesterday?s opening day of Alger Telecomp at the Palais des Expositions in Algiers. ZTE ? main sponsors of the event and one of more than 60 exhibitors from nearly 20 countries ? attracted hundreds of visitors from the moment the exhibition opened.
?Algeria, North Africa and indeed the whole African Continent are important markets for ZTE as we continue to expand internationally and we were delighted with the numbers of visitors that came to see our stand today,? said Mr. Xiao Chun Fa, general manager of ZTE?s Algerian representative office.
?Algeria is showing good economic growth and a demand for world-class communications and that is reflected in today?s massive interest in ZTE?s range of world class solutions.?
At its stand, ZTE has been holding live demonstrations of some of its leading-edge technology, including GoTa, EV-DO, videophone, streaming media, internet surfing, JAVA downloads, and live TV via mobile phone. Under the slogan ?global solutions, local services? ZTE introduced its latest research results in the various telecom fields, including CDMA, WCDMA/GSM, optical transport, broadband access and next generation networks (NGN).
Other ZTE solutions on show are:
- Wireless communication solutions: CDMA mobile communication solutions, WCDMA/GSM integrated mobile communications solutions, and broadband wireless access technology.
- Fixed network solutions: evolving optical transport networks, broadband IP telephony network solutions, evolving and convergent Softswitch for NGN, and business solutions integrated with multimedia service.
- Mobile phones and Terminals.
ZTE continues to be successful in Africa: last month, ZTE beat all other competitor vendors to make the first ever 3G call in Tunisia. Over the past few years, ZTE has established a predominant position in North Africa's telecommunications markets: in 2003, ZTE was selected to build Africa's largest CDMA WLL project in Algeria; ZTE's GSM products have been used in large-scale applications in Nigeria and Ethiopia; and, in 2004, ZTE was selected by Egypt Telecom to construct a large-scale CDMA network covering the Nile River Delta.
The Alger Telecomp exhibition comes at a time when ZTE?s ongoing commitment to research and development is paying off in terms of fast growth at home and abroad. The company spends about 10% of revenues annually on investment for future developments. During the six months ending June 30, 2004, ZTE recorded revenue from principal operations of US$ 1.4 billion, up 100.65% over the same period of the previous year; profits from principal operations of US$ 520.3 million, up 108.10%; and net profits of US$ 62 million, up 163.46%.
