RADIONET LAUNCHES COMBINED ACCESS/LINK ROUTER FOR WI-FI HOTZONES

New RN-900 Access/Link Router Enables More Cost-effective and Flexible Deployment of Wi-Fi Hotzones for Cities, Municipalities and Ports

HELSINKI, Finland -/19 Oct, 2004 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- Radionet, a leading supplier of Wi-Fi Hotzone technology, today launched the new RN-900 Access/Link Router, which combines 802.11 wireless back-haul (link) and mobile end-user access functionality into a single weatherproof product.
By integrating link and access products into a single enclosure, the RN-900 reduces deployment and operating costs, lowers total cost of ownership through simplified network set-up and maintenance, and allows easy reconfiguration for future scenarios.

“The unique benefit of the RN-900 Access/Link Router is that it removes the need to use two separate products for back-haul and end-user access. By using a solution that combines both these functions into a single weatherproof unit, citywide Wi-Fi Hotzone and port network operators can simplify network deployment, lower equipment, maintenance and operating costs, and easily extend their networks,” said Radionet’s VP of Sales & Marketing Markus Björkqvist.

The RN-900 Access/Link Router extends Radionet’s product line of Wi-Fi Hotzone equipment, which is used in several cities and ports in Europe. The product’s easy reconfiguration enables Wi-Fi Hotzone operators to meet future scenarios as the product can easily be configured to operate as an access router, repeater or a point-to-multipoint link. The product is designed for outdoor use from the outset, and can withstand demanding environmental conditions such as rain, hot and freezing temperatures, moisture, and salt from seawater. The product features a complete setup for outdoor installation in a single enclosure:

· Two radio units, each of which can be configured to operate either on the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency range
· An integrated directional antenna, which improves sensitivity by reducing noise from antenna cabling and enables high-speed wireless link connections of up to 7 kilometers
· Two N-connectors for external antennas, allowing customers a wide range of antenna options
· IP routing, bandwidth management and IP roaming enabling secure, high performance networks
· Flexible configuration options as either access unit, point-to-multi-point link or both

The RN-900 also features Radionet’s patented MageIP technology, which provides users with free mobility within Wi-Fi Hotzone networks by enabling seamless handover between different subnets.

Availability
The RN-900 is immediately available both in European (ETSI) and UK compliant versions through Radionet’s channel partners. For more information visit the Radionet web site at: http://www.radionet.com.
