Linksys Announces 802.11G Wi-Fi Wireless Compact Flash Card for Pocket PCs and PDAs

IRVINE, CA -/15 Nov, 2004 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- Linksys®, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc., the leading provider of broadband, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer and Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) markets, announced the Wireless-G CompactFlash Card (WCF54G), the latest addition to the current Wireless-G line.

The Wireless-G CompactFlash (CF) Card offers users the speed and convenience of wireless networking on a PDA. The CF Card installs directly into your Pocket PC using a CompactFlash Type II slot. The user-friendly software makes it easy to set up – then it’s ready to share data, printers, or high-peed Internet access over existing wireless networks at speeds up to 54Mbps. The 802.11g CF card is also backward compatible with Wireless-B (802.11b) wireless networks.

“Pocket PC users can use the Instant Wireless CF Card to conveniently retrieve data from anywhere within 802.11g and 802.11b wireless LANs,” said Mike Wagner, Linksys world wide director of marketing. “Public wireless hotspots are continuing to expand, giving PDA users opportunity to stay in touch with happenings at work or at home.”

The Linksys 802.11g wireless adapter roams seamlessly among multiple 802.11g/b wireless network access points or wireless routers, it also operates in ad hoc mode (without an access point) to download data from wireless PCs without a cradle or network connection, and can share data directly with other wireless PDAs. The WCF54G supports PDA’s with Pocket PC 2002 and 2003 OS.
