Aruba Wireless Will Use VeriWave For Wi-Fi Wireless LAN (WLAN) Test Equipment

Aruba Wireless Will Use VeriWave For Wi-Fi Wireless LAN (WLAN) Test Equipment

VeriWave?s Traffic Generator/Performance Analyzer is used to conduct performance and conformance validation of Aruba?s access points and switches

PORTLAND, ORE. ? November 17, 2004 ? VeriWave, Inc., the leading provider of performance analysis tools for wireless local area network WLAN) devices and networks, announced that Aruba Wireless Networks has chosen VeriWave to provide wireless LAN (WLAN) test equipment for its development and quality assurance labs. Aruba chose VeriWave?s WaveTest? Traffic Generator/Performance Analyzer to conduct performance and conformance testing of its new line of wireless grid points and WLAN grid controller systems.

?Enterprises look to us to deliver the highest performing wireless systems,? said Keerti Melkote, co-founder and vice president of product management for Aruba Wireless Networks. ?We scoured the market for test equipment that could best validate the performance of our equipment, iin the wide variety of applications and found VeriWave to be among the most sophisticated. Consequently, we chose the VeriWave WaveTest as it is the only test tool on the market today which can provide environmentally agnostic testing, conduct conformance and performance tests, and can validate performance of such complex protocols as VoIP.?

Melkote highlighted VeriWave?s granular control over signal timing, the repeatability offered by its application suites, and its full air-rate traffic generation and analysis capabilities as key differentiators that made the system most attractive.

The WaveTest Traffic Generator/Performance Analyzer provides unprecedented insight into the performance of the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN devices with high-precision accuracy achieved through the use of a custom MAC. WaveTest is also the only Wireless LAN test equipment that is completely environmentally agnostic, supporting tests in an isolated environment, using RF chambers, in cabled environments, as well as real-world open-air tests. With suites of comprehensive, automated tests that focus directly on device performance at the WLAN layers, the WaveTest system allows users to precisely assess the behavior and characteristics of wireless devices and networks.

The VoIP Analysis Test Suite, used by Aruba, measures key values for VoIP traffic over WLAN, such as R-value (an ITU standard for voice quality measurement), delay, and jitter. In addition, the WaveTest system generates background test traffic, including error injection to simulate real-world traffic conditions. With its support of test automation, the WaveTest system ensures repeatable results and substantially reduces testing time.

Aruba also uses VeriWave?s conformance tests designed specifically to test the adherence of access points to the stringent protocol requirements of the 802.11 standard.

?We are delighted to be able to help Aruba in its quest to validate the performance of its access points and switches,? said Eran Karoly, VeriWave vice president of marketing. ?VeriWave is committed to provide a comprehensive set of testing tools to wireless LAN developers, QA testers, and manufacturing environments. WaveTest has quickly gathered industry acceptance and is being used by leading chip and driver developers, by next-generation WLAN system developers such as Aruba, and by industry labs all over the country.?

    Price and Availability
The WaveTest Traffic Generator/Performance Analyzer, the automated 802.11 conformance test suites, and the VoIP Analysis Test Suite, are available now. WaveTest pricing starts at $28,995.
