Sunrise selects combined Siemens-Infitel Intelligent Network solution

Sunrise selects combined Siemens-Infitel Intelligent Network solution

Nieuwegein/The Netherlands-/1 Dec, 2004 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Infitel International N.V. a leading vendor of solutions for value-added services for network operators and telecom service providers, announced that TDC Switzerland AG, better known under the brand name sunrise, the leading Swiss alternative full service provider for fixed net, mobile and internet services, has selected a combined Siemens-Infitel IN (Intelligent Network) solution.

At sunrise, the joint solution will replace many of the company?s existing IN systems and applications with a single, yet flexible environment for providing value-added services. It will allow sunrise to benefit from a rationalization of the network infrastructure by merging services on one platform and allowing their customers more options in their number translation services.

One core element of the solution is Infitel?s Application Server, in an SCP (Service Control Point) configuration, which has a proven capability to interwork with the existing Siemens core-switching network. The solution meets all technical requirements of sunrise relating to reliability, capacity and integration with existing back office systems. This includes the delivery of a dual site, load-sharing configuration, which allows for significant options in configuring the network in unexpected peak and emergency situations. These configuration options are based on Infitel`s Mated Resource Technology?, which distributes software resources over several systems to ensure fail-safe operations at peak times, during hardware failures and maintenance downtimes by automatically using resources on another system.

?The Siemens/Infitel combination ensures great flexibility in operation and implementing future services,? says Bo Chamberlain, CTO sunrise. ?In addition the multi-site redundancy configuration allows us to maintain the high service levels expected by our customers.?

Infitel is also supplying sunrise with applications from its Application Suite:
    - Call Screening to control fraud risk by blocking users from certain call types and destinations
    - Intelligent Call Routing to create call routing services such as 0800/0900 service numbers
    - EasyVote to arrange telephone mass polling/voting events
    - Online Charging to flexibly apply online tariffs to service numbers in both the fixed and mobile parts of the sunrise network

Infitel and Siemens are also supplying turnkey services to migrate existing applications onto the new environment.

?We are delighted to support sunrise with a future proof platform which offers a lot of further service marketing opportunities in both the mobile and next generation networks without further capital expenditure,? says Ren? de Greef, Infitel COO.
