ZTE Donates $2.5 million Worth of Mobile Equipment to Tsunami Hit Areas



ZTE RUSHES TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT TO INDIAN OCEAN EARTHQUAKE REGIONS



-/31 Dec, 2004 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/-ZTE Corporation, China's largest listed telecommunications company, has donated mobile telecommunications network equipment and handsets worth $2.5 million to help restore communications in areas of India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia devastated by last week's Pacific Ocean earthquake.

The equipment has already been dispatched and where possible ZTE's own engineers will be working with local people to bring vital telecommunications services back on line.

"We are facing a human catastrophe of giant proportions and when something like this happens you just feel you must do something to help fellow human beings," said Mr Yin Yimin, ZTE CEO.

"We hope our equipment will help the marvellous work of the international aid agencies and the local governments and our hopes and good wishes to out to the people of those countries".
