Bob O'Hara Selected to "50 Most Powerful People in Networking" List

Airespace Co-Founder Bob O'Hara Recognized as Industry Power Player; Selected to Network World's Esteemed List of "50 Most Powerful People in Networking"

SAN JOSE, CA -/05 Jan, 2005 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- Airespace, Inc.(R), the leading supplier of secure Wireless LAN (WLAN) systems, announced that Bob O'Hara, Airespace co-founder and Director of System Engineering, has been selected to Network World magazine's list of Top 50 "Most Powerful People in Networking." Bob was distinguished as an industry "standards setter" by the publication for his role in the development of the original 802.11 protocol, his continued leadership in the evolution of wireless standards, and his involvement in the design and delivery of Airespace's next-generation Wireless LAN system, which has established itself as a premier platform for the delivery of secure and reliable enterprise WLAN services.
From the corporate boardroom to the enterprise data center, the 50 men and women on Network World's list exercise power within the network industry to one degree or another. Some have the clout to sway the world's technology decisions, while others command attention within vertical industries, particular market segments or simply -- though not inconsequentially -- within their own organizational domains. The list includes CEOs from Fortune 500 companies, engineering thought leaders, the chairman of a major federal regulatory commission, and other well-respected industry "power players."

O'Hara has been dubbed a founding father of the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN standard. He has been a staple in the development of the popular 802.11 standard for a decade, co-authoring "IEEE 802.11 Handbook: A Designer's Companion"
(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0738118559/fusion0e/102-9759951-5007315) and penning numerous technical papers on the subject.

Currently, he is actively involved in the development and adoption of numerous wireless standards in the IEEE and Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA), and is a regular contributor to Network World's "Wireless Wizards" column. Bob's extensive experience with 802.11 and other networking protocols led to the development of the first commercially available WLAN system to leverage an "RF Aware" architecture, whereby distributed visibility, centralized intelligence, and automated control makes enterprise WLANs ideally suited for real-time business applications, including Voice over WLAN (VoWLAN).

"Bob's fundamental leadership in the Wireless LAN community, from its inception, has helped Airespace develop a market-leading WLAN system that meets a diverse set of enterprise needs," said Brett Galloway, CEO and president of Airespace. "His deep experience and thought leadership position in the industry brings enormous value to Airespace, establishing our company as the standard for enterprise wireless networking."
