SpectraLink Delivers VoIP with Nortel Networks' Business Communication Manager

NetLink Wireless Telephones bring mobility to small businesses and branch offices

LAS VEGAS, June 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- INNMUG -- SpectraLink Corporation (Nasdaq: SLNK), an industry pioneer in enterprise wireless communications, today announced integration of its NetLink Wireless Telephones with Nortel Networks' Business Communication Manager (BCM) IP-enabled communication system. Utilizing Nortel Networks' UniStim voice over IP (VoIP) protocol, SpectraLink's NetLink Wireless Telephones support the advanced features and capabilities of Nortel Networks' wired IP telephones while allowing users to roam throughout the workplace. NetLink Wireless Telephones operate as client devices on an enterprise 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless LAN to provide end-to-end VoIP connectivity between the wireless handsets and the BCM.

The NetLink Wireless Telephones emulate Nortel Networks' i2004 Internet Telephones to provide advanced business telephone functionality. Both the NetLink e340 and NetLink i640 Wireless Telephones are available with Nortel Networks' UniStim protocol. SpectraLink implemented the UniStim protocol under a technology licensing agreement signed in 2002 with Nortel Networks. SpectraLink also continues to offer NetLink Telephony Gateways to interface through digital station ports to traditional (non-IP) telephone switch platforms.

"Nortel Networks' BCM is an award-winning IP telephony solution for small and medium businesses," said Mike Cronin, vice president of sales and marketing for SpectraLink. "Our integration with the BCM provides a cost-effective way to leverage enterprise Wi-Fi networks to bring mobility to these markets."
