AGL Resources secures and manages entire wired and wireless data infrastructure with Roving Planet


WESTMINSTER, CO -/26 Jan, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Roving Planet, a leading provider of integrated wireless LAN security and management solutions, today announced that AGL Resources, a regional energy holding company with operations throughout the southern United States, has installed Roving Planet?s integrated software suite to secure, manage and monitor its network infrastructure.

AGL Resources needed a comprehensive and scalable solution to quickly and securely deploy Wi-Fi to their field service centers, beginning with 32 locations in Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. Wi-Fi enables field service centers to capture meter readings and other critical operational data from service vehicles as they pull in. The data is then transferred to a central corporate database. With Roving Planet, service centers are rapidly configured with full, secure access to both hard-wired and wireless network resources. The AGL Resources IT team can centrally monitor network and security events across multiple service centers, with a privileged-based control framework that ensures an efficiently managed and secure network infrastructure.
