O2 Ireland Selects CTS Ellipse Microwave Planning Tool
PARIS, France-/8 Feb, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- CTS (Cril Telecom Software), a leading provider of network planning and optimisation tools and spectrum management systems and services, today announces a new contract with O2 Ireland for its Ellipse Microwave Planning Tool Suite.
The contract with O2 includes several Ellipse Microwave licences, installation, existing technical data migration, training, and maintenance.
O2 chose the Ellipse Microwave Planning tool from CTS after a rigorous technical and quality evaluation of different transmission planning tools. O2 Ireland will use Ellipse Microwave for the planning and optimisation of its complete national radio transmission network.
Oliver Coughlan, Director of Technology at O2 Ireland said: ?We chose the Ellipse Microwave Planning tool from CTS as the planning and optimisation functions and ergonomics of the tool are specifically designed for the working methods and needs of the microwave planning engineer. We also wanted a professional tool with a strong roadmap and maintenance including the capability for FWA planning. CTS are a very proactive company and we will benefit from all the latest product developments, such as automatic channel assignment."
The automatic channel assignment will enable the microwave engineer to considerably speed up the process of determining the optimal frequency per designed link. After the automatic assignment, the engineer has the option to double-check manually.
Ellipse also features advanced interference calculation tools that allow O2 to use spectrum within the attributed frequency bands more efficiently over the entire transmission network.
The Ellipse Microwave Planning application is based on thin-client architecture.
Morgan Zimmermann, Sales Director at CTS said: ?We are happy to count such an innovative and progressive mobile operator such as O2 Ireland amongst our customers."
O2 is the second mobile operator in Ireland with forty percent market share, which constitutes 1,39 million subscribers. It grew its customer base by eleven percent until the end of March 2004. Their main aim is to ensure that customers receive best possible service and network quality.
