Infitel announces network agnostic value added service platform

Infitel announces network agnostic value added service platform

Company focuses on linking present and future needs in wireless value added services market

Nieuwegein (The Netherlands), -/11 Feb, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Infitel International N.V., a leading vendor of solutions for value added services for network operators and telecommunications service providers, announces that it has enabled its Application Server platform to support value added services across networks. Network signalling via SS7, OSA (Open Service Acces)/Parlay and SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is supported to allow running the same value added services on fixed, mobile or (wireless) broadband networks simultaneously.

For wireless operators, this also puts them in a position to swiftly migrate from their current network technology to a next generation, fully converged IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), without disrupting their customer base while avoiding costly upgrades.

With this solution Infitel addresses a complex situation in telecommunications: the market is currently moving towards fully packet-based implementations using SIP and IMS architectures to reduce costs while increasing multimedia service flexibility, and creating fixed-mobile-broadband convergence. However, until complete SIP and IMS networks are a reality, telecommunications providers will be facing the challenge of enabling value added services via hybrid networks. This means they will be dealing with varying portions of fixed, mobile, broadband, circuit- and packet-based technologies.

?Infitel`s network agnostic value added Application Server platform as well as the range of value added services we offer are essential tools for network operators and service providers who wish to evolve to a Service Oriented Architecture in a fully converged, future network scenario,? says Holger Schreyer, VP Corporate Marketing, Infitel International N.V. ?Or seen from an end-user perspective, the provider of their choice offers them the comfort of accessing their favorite services via any network.?

Infitel will be exhibiting at the 3GSM World Congress 2005 in Cannes:
    Hall 2, booth 36H
