3GSM World Congress, Cannes, Hall 2, Stand E58

• New nanoBTS™ GSM 900 extends ip.access’ cellular coverage and capacity solution to 900MHz countries
• Picocell coverage to be made available to 273 GSM 900 mobile operators in 142 countries
• Volume shipment to begin in July 2005

Cannes, France-/15 Feb, 2005 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- ip.access ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of TTP Communications Plc (LSE:TTC), announces the upcoming availability of its new 900MHz GSM picocellular basestation – the nanoBTS™ GSM 900. The GSM 900 nanoBTS will be available to ship from July 2005 to mobile network operators in the 142 countries that currently run 900MHz networks.
The launch of the GSM 900 nanoBTS will enable the implementation of indoor, rural and remote picocell coverage solutions by the world’s 273 operators who currently only hold a GSM 900 license, or whose users primarily use 900MHz handsets – which includes key markets such as China, Africa, India and Russia. The introduction of GSM 900 coverage by ip.access builds upon the current nanoBTS solution for GSM 1800 and 1900 MHz.

The ip.access nanoBTS picocell basestation uses GSM-over-IP to deliver cellular voice and data services in the smallest and most cost-effective package available today. Through the innovation of using existing IP networks as the backhaul medium, the nanoBTS provides dedicated GSM coverage and increased capacity simply and efficiently, wherever it is needed – to provide coverage for corporate and business customers in their buildings as well as for public spaces such as shopping centres, transport terminals, and remote rural deployments.

Commenting on the announcement, Steve Mallinson, managing director, ip.access, said, “The release of our GSM 900 nanoBTS is a very significant development for the global operator community. By expanding the countries where picocell coverage is possible, ip.access is playing a key role in enabling the deployment of essential in-building, remote and rural services by GSM operators across the world.”

The nanoBTS™ is part of the ip.access nanoGSM™ solution, which integrates into network operators existing infrastructure to boost mobile phone coverage in previously hard-to-reach areas.

ip.access ltd (http://www.ipaccess.com) designs and manufactures a range of GSM and GPRS infrastructure solutions that integrate seamlessly with IP-based networks providing ubiquitous and cost-effective mobile radio coverage within buildings. ip.access products can be used to enhance public mobile networks and to support emerging enterprise-focused wireless office services. Based in Cambridge, UK, ip.access ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TTP Communications plc, a world-leading independent supplier of cellular handset technology. TTP Communications, through its subsidiary TTPCom (http://www.ttpcom.com), sells technology intellectual property used in the design and manufacture of wireless communication terminals. Over 80 devices using its GSM technology have achieved Full Type Approval - more than any other independent developer. TTP Communications plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: TTC).
