Siemens Communications to report on issues in converged fixed and mobile network

Siemens Communications to report on issues in converged fixed and mobile networks

Munich, Germany -/18 Feb, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- At 21st Century Communications World Forum in London (UK) Siemens Communications will report on issues of service control and delivery in converged fixed/mobile networks. In a fixed/mobile converged infrastructure, the call control layer is separated from a service control layer.

Call control is well standardized in 3GPP, but there is a considerable amount of freedom in the architecture of the service delivery platforms, which is also reflected in the amount of standards and industry activities to harmonize these approaches.

Several aspects have to be evaluated and considered:
? The technology of the service platforms
? The components required for the services as well as re-usable enabling applications
? Integration of service control and call control for the IMS architecture, and issues arising during the intermediate stages in which the interworking of the services with legacy networks has to be considered

? Interface and integration with end systems and user interfaces
? Interface to 3rd-party application developers

Since these issues may depend on the nature of the selected service, they will be presented using examples of applications from the business and consumer environment. Experience with real implementations will help to give an insight into the issues to be addressed.

The presentation will be held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London on 21 February at 9:00 a.m.
