Linksys Announces New 16 and 24 Port Gigabit Switches for small businesses

Affordable 16- and 24-Port Gigabit Switches Provide High Performance, Flexibility and Reliability Small Business Networks Demand

IRVINE, Calif. -/23 Feb, 2005 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- Linksys®, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc., and the leading global manufacturer of broadband, wireless, and networking hardware for home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and small business environments, announced two new switches for small businesses – the 16-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch with WebView (SRW2016) and the 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch with WebView (SRW2024).

Both new gigabit switches feature WebView remote monitoring and fiber expansion. WebView lets administrators control their network remotely through a web browser for configuration and monitoring traffic; while fiber expansion options through the two Mini GBIC ports allow administrators to add mini GBIC SFP Transceivers for longer range, high throughput connections to the main network.

The Linksys 16- and 24-port gigabit WebView switches have been designed for small businesses looking for the following:

1. Simple network configurability and management capabilities
2. Fast gigabit network speed for the elimination of data “bottlenecks”
3. Fiber expandability for long range networking
4. Cost effective solution in migrating the network from Fast Ethernet to Gigabit

“Our reseller and small business customers were looking for us to take our unmanaged gigabit switches to the next level by adding features that enable more control of a network onsite or off,” said Tim Thornton, Linksys director of product marketing. “We enhanced our gigabit switches with more features that optimize network performance while providing expandability options as the network needs to grow. Linksys is building out its switch line to offer a complete portfolio of solutions that will meet the needs of all types of small business demands.”
