World’s smallest 3G handset and latest IPTV demonstration are among ZTE stand highlights
-/11 March, 2005 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/-ZTE Corporation, China’s largest telecommunications manufacturer and wireless solutions provider, makes its first appearance at Telecom Arabiya in Bahrain later this month with a range of the world-class technology and telecommunications solutions that is seeing the company achieve major business success across the Middle East and the world.
Located in Hall 2, stand 21, ZTE will showcase its profitable, customer-oriented and integrated solutions covering wireless, optical and data telecommunications, including WCDMA, GSM, CDMA 2000 1x, GoTa (Global open Trunking architecture), IPTV/VOD, NGN (Next Generation Network) and value-added services. There will also be a range of handsets including the F808 – the world’s smallest 3G phone.
“We are delighted to be at Telecom Arabiya for the first time and we are looking forward to sharing ideas, knowledge and progress with carriers and partners from the region,” said Mr. Pang Shenqing, VP of ZTE Corporation.
The exhibition comes at a time when ZTE is establishing itself as a major supplier across the region. Last year it won contracts to build one of the world’s most challenging WLL (wireless local loop) networks for Saudi Arabia – as well as a national videoconferencing project – and a further WLL project has been developed with Telecom Egypt. Also in Egypt, ZTE was selected by the Chinese Government to help the Egyptian Ministry of Education build the world’s largest tele-education network. ZTE has also won significant business in Tunisia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Algeria and Benin.
Much of ZTE’s success is due to its ongoing commitment to research and development, which sees the Corporation spend about 10% of revenues annually on investment for future developments. With an accurate and in-depth perception of the market, ZTE has introduced multi-level product systems to meet the individual requirements of various customers by leveraging its diversified products and customised market strategies.
ZTE’s recorded contract sales of RMB 34 billion from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004 represents a 34.96% increase as compared with the corresponding period in 2003. Of such contract sales, RMB 13.6 billion (approximately US$ 1,644 million) was attributable to its international sales.
