Roamware Steers Mobile Operators Towards $50 billion Roaming Market

Roamware Steers Mobile Operators Towards $50 billion Roaming Market

Brussels, Belgium, -/21 March, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Leading mobile roaming specialist Roamware. Inc. has signed the 30th contract to supply its patent-pending mobile traffic control solution Traffic Redirection?. With the roaming market estimated to be worth $50 billion, operators with Traffic Redirection capability can steer roamers on to preferred or partner networks and win a larger share of that revenue.

Roamware pioneered the development of roaming traffic control, implementing the first Traffic Redirection in December 2003. The majority of deployments today are in the Europe, Middle East and Asia regions, reflecting the key global roaming markets.

For further information on traffic redirection, please visit: http://www.roamware.com/downloads/TR_whitepaper.pdf

Traffic Redirection enables operators to offer roaming Quality of Service (QoS) levels by ensuring subscribers can use networks that support specific profiles, capabilities and services such as CAMEL, GPRS and MMS. Subscribers enjoy an enhanced service experience by retaining their Virtual Home Environment ? the service when they roam is the same as that at home.

Costs can be controlled for the subscriber by diverting traffic to the network offering the most cost-effective service, while the guarantee of traffic becomes a powerful tool for the negotiation of inter-operator wholesale agreements.

Roamware COO Bobby Srinivasan said: ?Traffic Redirection enables operators to achieve the three golden objectives in the roaming environment: maximize revenues; reduce costs and guarantee quality of service. The business opportunity for deployment is compelling given the volumes of the roaming business and the consolidation happening in the wireless business across international boundaries.?

The Roamware solution is a carrier grade solution founded on GSM standards, with a sophisticated multi level selection logic, enabling the personalization of profiles at individual customer level to ensure complete control for subscribers and carriers.

Optional advanced level modules include Service Menu Based Traffic Redirection when customers are provided with information on available networks, services available and costs on a real time basis so they can select their preferred network, and On Demand Traffic Redirection, where customers can be proactively moved from a non-preferred network to a preferred network.
