Dell’Oro Confirms NETGEAR Leads Competition in Gigabit Ethernet Switching



SANTA CLARA, Calif. -/1 April, 2005 - The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- NETGEAR®, Inc., (Nasdaq: NTGR) a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, announced the results of a 2004 market analysis report published by the Dell’Oro Group that confirmed NETGEAR, for the second year in a row, led the industry worldwide as #1 in revenue and ports shipped in the unmanaged Gigabit switch category and extended its market leading position over the competition.
According to the report, NETGEAR strengthened its dominance in the worldwide unmanaged Gigabit switch market by capturing 27 percent of the market revenue and 30 percent of the ports shipped in the category in 2004. The report further showed NETGEAR improved its worldwide Gigabit share by an additional seven percent points this year over its market-leading 20 percent revenue share and 23 percent port share in 2003.

The Dell’Oro report also revealed that for overall Layer 2 fixed ports including both unmanaged and managed, NETGEAR advanced to the #2 position, second only to Cisco for 2004.
