WAVELINK JOINS HP OPENVIEW SOLUTION ALLIANCE PROGRAM
Alliance Provides Industry?s Leading WLAN Management Solution
to HP OpenView Customers
Chicago, Ill.?June 16, 2003?Wavelink Corporation, a leading provider of mobile infrastructure management software for the enterprise, today announced they have joined the HP OpenView Solution Alliance Program at the Solution Partner level with the integration of Wavelink Mobile Manager with HP OpenView Network Node Manager. The integration is designed to offer customers comprehensive management of both wired and wireless networks from a single centralized console. Today Wavelink unveiled the beta version of the Mobile Manager plug-in at the HP Software Forum in Chicago, Illinios.
Enterprises have embraced the benefits of centralized management solutions for their wired networks. With wireless networks continuing to proliferate, administrators now face the challenge of managing the wireless LAN complexities of roaming mobile devices and multiple access points. As centralized WLAN management becomes essential to wireless deployments, enterprises can benefit from interoperability with existing wired management solutions to reduce administration and total cost of ownership and to provide a single view of the entire network.
The integration of the Wavelink Mobile Manager will allow HP OpenView Network Node Manager users to extend their existing LAN management functionality to include their wireless networks. Mobile Manager is the only multi-vendor solution for centralizing the management of large numbers of access points and mobile devices. Utilizing the solution, network managers can maintain the health and performance of the network, centrally perform updates to mobile devices and deploy advanced wireless security measures from a single console.
?The management difficulties that lead enterprises to choose HP OpenView to manage their wired networks are the same challenges that are pressing for wireless networks,? said David Bullis, president and CEO of Wavelink. ?Everyone wants to ensure performance while keeping costs low. Now the many enterprises that have implemented HP OpenView will also be able to manage their wireless networks from a single integrated platform.?
?We see our customers who depend on OpenView for LAN management struggling with the lack of management control over their wireless networks,? said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager of the HP OpenView Business Unit. ?The Wavelink Mobile Manager integration with HP OpenView Network Node Manager is a natural extension of our commitment to offering multi-platform solutions that address new areas of critical customer need while assuring the highest standard of quality.?
Wavelink will submit their integration for certification to HP to verify interoperability testing with HP OpenView Network Node Manager and plans to release the final version upon the successful completion of certification.
