NETGEAR Launches ProSafe FS750T2 48 Port 10/100 2 Gigabit Ports Switch

NETGEAR Rolls Out SNMP Management Functionality Across Industry-Leading Smart Switch Product Line Beginning With Launch of ProSafe™ FS750T2 48 Port 10/100 Smart Switch with 2 Gigabit Ports

LAS VEGAS -/3 May, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- NETGEAR©, Inc., (Nasdaq: NTGR) a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced at Interop 2005 the rollout of SNMP management capabilities for its industry-leading line of ProSafe Smart Switches beginning in May 2005. In addition, NETGEAR announced the launch of the ProSafe FS750T2 48 Port 10/100 Smart Switch with 2 Gigabit Ports, the latest Smart Switch to feature fiber Gigabit uplink slots, giving all current ProSafe Smart Switches Gigabit uplink capability.
While all NETGEAR Smart Switches offer simple Web browser-based management features for monitoring switch performance, configuring ports and port trunking, the company today also announced that beginning in May 2005 all shipping Smart Switches will support SNMP v1.0 for remote management through ProSafe Network Management Software (NMS100) or other SNMP-based software. A downloadable firmware upgrade will also be made available through the NETGEAR Web site to enable SNMP in currently shipping Smart Switches.

The value-packed ProSafe FS750T2 48 Port 10/100 Smart Switch combines high port density, Gigabit capability and easy browser-based management into a high-performance, affordable networking solution that enables growing businesses to obtain the benefits of network management without the cost and complexity of a managed network. The FS750T2, which features 48 10/100 Mbps ports and two copper 10/100/1000 Mbps ports for connection to servers or a Gigabit backbone, includes two hot-swappable Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) GBIC slots for optional fiber connectivity. “As the first company to introduce the Smart Switch concept, the popularity of our lightly-managed Smart Switches has driven market share growth in the SMB sector and has established NETGEAR as the leader in the product category,” explained NETGEAR Product Line Manager, Peter Newton. “With the incorporation of the optional Gigabit fiber uplink ports in the new FS750T2 we’re stepping up our entire product offering to support the high-performance requirements of larger, more complex network infrastructures. The integration of SNMP v1.0 support across the product line adds an extra level of versatility and manageability that will further solidify NETGEAR as the leader in price/performance in the switching industry.” Featuring an intuitive Web browser interface, the ProSafe FS750T2 adds basic switch management to unmanaged networks and extends managed networks.

With the SNMP firmware upgrade installed, the FS750T2 will work seamlessly with NETGEAR’s NMS100 software that helps users to quickly and easily configure, manage and diagnose the network. NETGEAR’s ProSafe FS750T2 48 Port 10/100 Smart Switch is backed by a five-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, with optional one- and three-year premium switch support packs (P3L21: 1-Year, P3L23: 3-Year), and is available now via leading direct marketers, e-commerce sites, and value-added resellers at a list price of $550
