    IBM introduce its Thinkpad T40 and Thinkpad T40p range

    June 17 2003 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- Today IBM announced the introduction and availability of its IBM Thinkpad T40 range with advanced Wi-Fi Technology and processing speed and power. In an earlier communication to the Wi-Fi Technology Forum, IBM also announced its planned release of its Thinkpad T40p 60 Gig notebooks in June 16 2003.

    The new ThinkPad T40 notebook models for small and medium business deliver innovative technology through these benefits and features:

    Intel Pentium M processor at 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 GHz with 1 MB on-die L2 cache

    Sleek profile and lightweight

    400 MHz front-side system bus with 266 MHz double data rate (DDR) memory

    256 MB of memory standard, expandable to 2 GB (2)

    UltraNav dual-pointing system, featuring TrackPoint and customized touch pad

    ThinkPad HDD shock absorber

    30 GB to 80 GB HDD

    24x-8x, DVD, CD-RW on selected options

    Standard integrated communications of V.90 (5) modem (V.92 (6)-designed) and 10/100 Ethernet

    One-year, limited warranty; one-year limited warranty on battery and system.

    Long battery operation: up to five hours (7) or more with the system battery (optional batteries available)

    UltraConnect (TM) antenna for optimal frequency coverage and performance for improved wireless LAN connectivity around the world; supports 2.4 GHz frequency band for 802.11b networks and four sub-bands in 5 GHz frequency band to meet unique country spectrum requirements.

    Light and Portable: The ThinkPad T40 notebook is 26.6 mm (1.0 in) thin (9) with optimal travel weight starting at 2.05 kg (4.5 lb) (10) with travel bezel. The titanium composite cover gives you added strength.


    Robust System Manageability: The ThinkPad T40 notebook features support for IBM Director Agent and is designed to the PXE 2.0 manageability requirements for mobile systems.
