Radionet Introduces New Capabilities for Wireless and Wi-Fi Hotspots Networks
Radionet introduces dynamic OSPF routing and fault tolerant network controller to its lineup
Helsinki, Finland-/May 31, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Radionet Ltd, a leading supplier of Wireless Hotzone technology, today announced that it is bringing carrier grade features such as dynamic routing and fault tolerance into Wireless Hotzone networks. The company has incorporated OSPF (open shortest path first) routing functionality into its product line. OSPF routing enables new layer 3 based Mesh type architectures to be used in wireless broadband networks.
This increases reliability and flexibility of network solutions. The company also announced a new fault-tolerant network controller that is designed for high availability. With the introduction of these carrier grade features into wireless networks, Radionet is addressing customers? needs to dynamically configure and extend networks and brings high availability to the Hotzone networks.
By incorporating OSPF routing into its router/link products (RN-700, 800, and RN-900 series) product set, Radionet addresses the need for more dynamic wireless networks, where the networks can easily be extended and reconfigured. By adopting dynamic routing, operators can also add reliability and redundancy to their networks by using alternative back-up routes between network equipment. OSPF based networking also offers better support for equipment from multiple vendors. Use of OSPF in wireless broadband equipments provides also continuity and interoperability in deployments where both wired and wireless networks are used. Existing OSPF routing based practices and procedures used in wired networks can be now also used in larger networks built with wireless broadband products.
?Larger networks are developed in evolutionary way ? they are continuously expanded and re-configured. Without dynamic routing, this process requires laborious re-configuration of equipment settings when changes are made to the network topology. With a dynamic routing approach this configuration work can be greatly reduced?, said Markus Bj?rkqvist, VP Sales and Marketing, Radionet.
Radionet also introduced the new High Availability Network controller. The network controller is a key part of a Hotzone network, and provides central subscriber and network management. Utilizing a redundant network controller backup unit guarantees operation even if the other network controller malfunctions. The Radionet High Availability Network Controller addresses the needs of WISP operators and enterprise customers such as port terminals, container warehouses and logistic centers for continuous uptime and fault tolerance.
