ip.access Enhances Asia-Pacific GSM Coverage Via New Satellite

Cambridge-/June 15, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-ip.access ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of TTP Communications Plc (LSE:TTC), announces that it has been selected by Shin Satellite, one of Asia's leading satellite operators, to deliver cost-effective GSM coverage and capacity via satellite to rural and remote areas across the Asia-Pacific region. ip.access? nanoGSM? solution will use the new IPSTAR satellite system for backhauling IP traffic to nanoBTS? basestations.

The standalone solution was successfully demonstrated to Advanced Info Service (AIS), the leading Thai GSM operator, by Intex Systems Pte Ltd, a distributor for ip.access. The demonstration proves that nanoGSM? with satellite backhaul is a viable option for operators in other Asia-Pacific countries.

?nanoGSM? is the natural choice for delivering enhanced GSM coverage and capacity via our satellite system,? commented Thanapong Naranong, Product Marketing Director, Shin Satellite. ?Providing IP backhaul via our satellite enables operators to efficiently address the needs of remote rural communities.?

?By integrating nanoGSM into the AIS network, we have once again assisted ip.access in expanding the reach of nanoGSM? globally, while demonstrating further our regional delivery and support capability,? said Erich Paulini, Managing Director of Intex Systems.

Sim Cher Fong, VP Asia Pacific, ip.access added, ?We are delighted that IPSTAR is delivering the benefits of our solution to new operators and business customers. We offer a range of installation options to suit every purpose: with satellite backhaul, our solution allows businesses all over the world to benefit from GSM access, regardless of their location.?

IPSTAR offers a system capacity and efficiency greater than that of conventional satellites. The satellite uses spot beam coverage to maximise the available frequency for transmissions and dynamic power application to maintain a high link availability and reliability. IPSTAR also has a lower cost of service than conventional satellites: IP connectivity can be provided at a fraction of the cost of circuit switching.

ip.access? nanoGSM? range of wireless infrastructure products deliver coverage and capacity in difficult-to-reach areas, enabling enhanced service coverage and increased Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) for Mobile Network Operators, Service Providers and MVNOs.

ip.access ltd (http://www.ipaccess.com) designs and manufactures a range of GSM and GPRS infrastructure solutions that integrate seamlessly with IP-based networks providing ubiquitous and cost-effective mobile radio coverage within buildings. ip.access products can be used to enhance public mobile networks and to support emerging enterprise-focused wireless office services. Based in Cambridge, UK, ip.access ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TTP Communications plc, a world-leading independent supplier of cellular handset technology. TTP Communications, through its subsidiary TTPCom (http://www.ttpcom.com), sells technology intellectual property used in the design and manufacture of wireless communication terminals. TTP Communications plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: TTC).

Serving broadband Internet bandwidth requirements, Shin Satellite Public Company Limited (SSA), one of Asia's leading satellite operators, has for the past 5 years been developing a new broadband satellite system that will effectively deliver broadband solutions to residential and corporate consumers throughout Asia-Pacific. SSA has funded its US technology partner, which has led to the development, design and patenting of IPSTAR's core technologies that are the basis of the IPSTAR Broadband Satellite System. The IPSTAR concept was created out of the company's vision of enabling satellite technology to play an important role in the broadband Internet/multimedia revolution and the coming convergence of information and communication technologies.

It aims to provide a low cost user terminal and bandwidth in order to provide a large scale bandwidth platform of satellite-based broadband that can provide lower bandwidth cost comparing with other satellite solutions and can effectively complement with other terrestrial broadband solution such as ADSL, Cable Modem and Fixed Wireless while, at the same time, retaining the key satellite advantages of large coverage, and fast and flexible service deployment.
