Skyworks and RF Micro Devices Pull Away from the Rest

Market Leaders Increase Market Share Lead by 19 Percent

Boston, MA -/August 8, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- The new "GaAs Device Vendor Market Share 2004," from Strategy Analytics, concludes that RF Micro Devices and Skyworks pulled away from the rest of the industry in 2004, collectively, increasing their lead of the $2.4 billion GaAs device market by 19 percent in 2004.
While there continued to be exits and consolidation in the lower ranks, the most significant moves in market share also related to the top two vendors, with Skyworks growing by 31 percent to close the gap with RF Micro Devices.

"Skyworks and RF Micro Devices cemented their positions as "mega-vendors" of GaAs devices to the merchant market," noted Asif Anwar, Director, Strategy Analytics GaAs and Compound Semiconductor Technologies service. "It is going to be a real struggle for other suppliers to catch up with these two in 2005, but opportunities moving ahead could still shake up GaAs device market share positioning."

"TriQuint will be the primary challenger to these top two companies moving forward. In 2004, TriQuint's customer design wins have included companies its competitors would envy. As a result, TriQuint has one of the broadest customer portfolios and continues to strengthen its market share," observed Stephen Entwistle, Vice President, Strategic Technologies Practice.

This "GaAs Device Vendor Market Share 2004," is first in a two-part series of reports that profile the leading vendors of GaAs devices (MMIC, discrete and digital). This first report profiles the North American companies and analyzes their strategic positioning in the market.
