NextHop Technologies Announces GateD 2.7 Next Generation Carrier Software

NextHop Technologies Announces GateD 2.7 Next Generation Carrier Software

    Offering Industry-Leading MPLS and VPLS

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -/September 14, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-NextHop Technologies(R) Inc., the definitive source for network routing software solutions, today announced the availability of GateD(R) NGC (Next Generation Carrier) 2.7 software to expand the services carriers can offer to their customers. GateD NGC 2.7 adds IPv6 multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), enhanced high availability capabilities within MPLS and virtual private local area network services (VPLS) to NextHop's reliable, scalable routing software.

IPv6 with MPLS can support tens of thousands of virtual private networks (VPN), helping carrier networks meet the growing demand of enterprise customers for interconnecting different corporate sites. VPLS allows service providers to deliver reliable Layer 2 VPN services based on industry-standard Ethernet.

GateD NGC 2.7 with VPLS capabilities includes label distribution protocol (LDP) based signaling and Layer 2 address management. Included is support for Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Frame-Relay, Ethernet and VLAN-based attachments.

The GateD NGC 2.7 suite includes IPv6 MPLS-based static label switched path (LSP) management and differentiated services functionality, allowing the transmission of IPV4/IPv6 data traffic between label switching routers (LSR), and provides quality of service (QOS).

"NextHop has steadily invested over the past 18 years, dating back to the founding team's implementation of the commercial internet, delivering high quality, feature rich, highly integrated switching, routing, wireless, and MPLS networking software by listening to customer design and development needs," said Timothy Bean, vice president and general manager, Network Protocols Products, NextHop.
"GateD NGC 2.7 software continues the tradition of delivering scaleable, interoperable and highly available MPLS and Layer 3 networking software that is deployed in thousands of mission critical
    environments."

They have chosen GateD because it is the most memory efficient, fastest, scalable, inter-operable, and reliable set of routing, switching and MPLS software available on the market.

GateD NGC 2.7 software is available for delivery end of Q3. Protocols are sold in a bundle or individually with simple network management protocol (SNMP) and command line interface (CLI)support.
