AirWave and ProCurve Celebrate Wi-Fi Strategic Alliance Anniversary

AirWave and ProCurve Celebrate Wi-Fi Strategic Alliance Anniversary

SAN MATEO, CA -/October 13, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- AirWave Wireless, a leader in Wi-Fi management and security, and ProCurve Networking by HP, marked the one year anniversary of their strategic partnership formed to provide customers with a comprehensive platform for managing, securing and operating multi-vendor wireless networks.

Since entering into a partnership in September 2004, the two companies have delivered integrated Wi-Fi solutions to numerous customers, with particular success in the K-12 educational arena.

"Since working with ProCurve and AirWave to implement a centrally managed network, we have significantly reduced wireless network operating costs in multiple schools throughout the district," said William Oden, senior systems administrator for Kershaw Country Schools. "These operating efficiencies have led many of our schools to select the ProCurve and AirWave solution over Cisco's Wi-Fi offerings. The joint solution has also enabled us to standardize our network infrastructure in various parts of the district."

The AirWave Management Platform(TM) (AMP) enables customers who deploy ProCurve wireless access points to automatically discover, monitor and configure those devices from anywhere in the world via AMP's web-based user interface. The AirWave software immediately discovers enterprise-grade HP ProCurve Wireless Access Point 420 or ProCurve Wireless Access Point 520wl products, as well as hardware from other vendors, and automatically implements predefined configuration and security policies. AirWave's software continuously monitors every user and device connected to the wireless network in real-time, immediately alerting the IT staff whenever potential performance problems are detected.

The combination of ProCurve access points with the AMP software dramatically enhances wireless network security. The software conducts automated compliance audits of the ProCurve devices, ensuring that the proper configuration policies are implemented at all times. It also uses a unique combination of wired network discovery techniques and wireless scans with ProCurve access points to detect and locate unauthorized 'rogue' access points.

"With faculty independently putting up rogue access points in classrooms, libraries and auditoriums on a regular basis, security remains a key concern for K-12 IT staff today," said Matt Zanner, global mobility solutions manager for ProCurve Networking by HP.
"Together with AirWave, we provide a Wi-Fi networking security solution that enables K-12 IT staff to immediately detect and display the physical location of any unauthorized rogue access points."

"It is an honor for us to continue to work with ProCurve Networking, who are committed to flexible, standards-based solutions and are true experts in solving the complex Wi-Fi networking issues faced by enterprises today," said Gary Hegna, CEO of AirWave. "We are delighted that so many customers have selected our joint Wi-Fi infrastructure solutions to drive down long-term operational costs while enhancing network security relative to competitive proprietary offerings."
