Wi-Fi Provider Boingo Ranks Sixth Among Tech Startups

Three Year Revenue Growth of 3,549% Ranks Boingo Sixth Among Tech Startups

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -/October 24, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Boingo Wireless, a leading Wi-Fi service provider for business travelers, has been named a Rising Star by Deloitte, ranking as the sixth fastest growing technology startup in North America as part of the 2005 Deloitte Technology Fast 500.

Deloitte?s Fast 500 is a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America for businesses with more than five years of operations; the Rising Star competition ranks the top 25 highest growth technology startups nationwide that have been in business for more than three years but less than five.

Rising Stars are ranked based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2002 to 2004). Boingo ranked as the number one Rising Star in the Los Angeles region for 2005 in Deloitte?s local competition.

David Hagan, president and CEO of Boingo, credits the increased productivity gained by business travelers from using Wi-Fi on the road, along with the company?s execution on building its network through domestic and international Wi-Fi roaming partnerships for the company?s 3,549% revenue growth over the past three years

?As we continue to expand throughout North America, Europe and Asia, we look forward to even greater success with continued fast growth," Hagan said.

?Boingo has shown the right stuff," said Tony Kern, deputy national managing principal of Deloitte?s Technology, Media & Telecommunications industry practice. ?Attracting enough customers to attain such fast growth in less than four years makes a strong statement about the quality of a company?s product and its leadership. It?s a credit to Boingo?s leadership that they?ve managed to ramp up their business so quickly.?

Boingo gives business travelers the best choice of Wi-Fi hotspots by combining more than 22,000 locations from more than 100 leading Wi-Fi operators into one worldwide network and allowing users to roam onto any of these locations with a single subscription using Boingo's Wi-Fi client software.

The company also partners with service providers to allow their users to access these hotspots through the Boingo Platform Services program. The program is designed as a turnkey solution to allow partners to offer their own Wi-Fi service quickly and cost effectively by providing customized client software, and a full suite of back-office billing, roaming, mediation and clearinghouse services. To date, the company has announced Platform Services partnerships with BT Infonet, Earthlink, Fiberlink, Nextel Communications, MCI, and Telecom Italia.

To qualify as a Fast 500 Rising Star, entrants must have had 2002 operating revenues of at least $50,000 USD or $75,000 CD, for the United States and Canada, respectively, and 2004 operating revenues of at least $1 million USD or CD. Entrants must be headquartered in North America, and be a ?technology company?, which is defined as either a company that owns proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues, or a company that devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies? technology in a unique way does not qualify.
