MERIDEA PROVIDES STATE-OF-THE ART MOBILE BANKING SOLUTION FOR STANDARD CHARTERED BANK

-/October 27, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-Meridea today announced the first go live of its leading-edge mobile banking solution at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore. One of the world?s leading banks Standard Chartered is setting new standards in online banking.

Unlike earlier versions of mobile banking, Meridea?s mobile banking solution will allow Standard Chartered customers to check their balances, prepare account transfers and browse transaction details even when their mobile devices are offline. Thus customers can now bank anytime and anywhere, particularly when they travel internationally. Additionally, Standard Chartered customers will not be restricted to one handset or network and they only need to reconnect to the bank to refresh information or activate a request - resulting in cost savings on internet connection.

The service, the first of its kind to be available commercially in Asia Pacific, allows banking on a range of mobile devices. It underscores Standard Chartered?s innovative approach in leveraging technology to bring new products and services to its customers.

Peter Flavel, Head of Consumer Banking of Standard Chartered Singapore said ?Mobile Banking is all about banking with convenience and security. We have made it even easier for our customers to access their accounts, as there is a wide selection of mobile handsets available that support the technology and customers can choose their preferred service providers. Banking online with Standard Chartered has never been easier, faster, better and more efficient. We have made security a key priority and have incorporated levels of protection and pass codes.?

Jukka Riivari, President and CEO of Meridea added; ?As financial institutions increasingly have to use a varied set of channels to deliver products and services to their customers, we have developed an extensive set of self-service products to meet these needs. This creates market differentiation and a competitive advantage for Standard Chartered.?

These new services are available as downloads using the mobile wireless network and do not require a subscription to a specific mobile operator and does not require specialised handsets from a specific manufacturer. It runs on existing 2G, 2.5G and 3G networks
