SpectraLink Deploys New NetLink Wireless Telephones in Dutch Hospital
Company to Join Cisco Client Extension Program to Enhance Interoperability
BOULDER, Colo., June 25 /Wi-Fi Technology News/ -- SpectraLink Corporation (Nasdaq: SLNK), an industry pioneer in enterprise wireless communications, today announced the deployment of SpectraLink's newly released NetLink e340 and NetLink i640 Wireless Telephones at one of the Netherlands' largest and most respected hospitals, Medical Center Leeuwarden. The healthcare provider selected SpectraLink's wireless LAN-based solution to safely and securely interoperate with its network of Cisco Aironet(R) Series of Wi-Fi access points throughout its facility. SpectraLink is also joining the Cisco Compatible Extensions program to offer integrated wireless connectivity, standards-based security support, and interoperability between NetLink Wireless Telephones and Cisco Aironet wireless LANs.
Medical Center Leeuwarden (MCL), part of the Zorggroep Noorderbreedte group of hospitals, is deploying NetLink e340 and NetLink i640 Wireless Telephones throughout its administration and health services buildings to improve hospital efficiencies and patient satisfaction. MCL chose the NetLink Wireless Telephones because of their ability to seamlessly integrate with the hospital's Cisco CallManager IP telephony application and Cisco Aironet Series of wireless LAN access points. Administrators and healthcare providers will be able to use their NetLink Wireless Telephones throughout the two buildings and enjoy the features and functionality provided by Cisco CallManager. The six-ounce NetLink i640 Wireless Telephones are being provided to nurses and other staff that require a more durable device and want to take advantage of the handset's push-to-talk feature. The four-ounce NetLink e340 handsets are provided to administrators and office staff who prefer a smaller and lighter device.
As part of SpectraLink's ongoing efforts to maintain compatibility with the leading enterprise wireless LAN solutions, SpectraLink is joining the Cisco Compatible Extensions program. The program enables the widespread availability of wireless client devices that take advantage of the Cisco Aironet wireless network, accelerating the availability of innovative features while maintaining interoperability.
"This deployment at MCL is a great example of how Wi-Fi and VoIP technologies can be leveraged to meet the needs of mobile workers," said Mike Cronin, vice president of sales and marketing for SpectraLink. "Interoperability is critical in these kinds of applications, so we are taking the steps necessary to enhance our capabilities with market leaders such as Cisco."
"We have been looking for a secure solution for converged voice and data," said Rolf van der Meulen, Senior Consultant for Zorggroep Noorderbreedte. "It is encouraging to see industry leaders like Cisco and SpectraLink working together to meet the needs of their customers."
