$10 Billion Business Wireless Email Market By End Of The Decade

Device Allure, Usability, Lower Costs & Managed Services Gain Importance

Boston, MA -/December 2, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- The latest Wireless Enterprise Strategies service report from Strategy Analytics, "The Battle for Supremacy in Wireless Email: Market Update," predicts that by the end of the decade $10 Billion in business wireless email service revenues will be second only to text messaging, and will be the bridge to future mobile e-business services in Western Europe, North America and Asia/Pacific.

The study also concludes that as Microsoft, Nokia, Motorola and PalmOne start to assert their might in email software and an array of tempting devices, the changing contours of the wireless email landscape will start to settle late in 2006. Early market leaders will retrench for fiercely intense competition in device appeal, IT manageability and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) in both the low and high ends of the market.

"With secure, enterprise-grade, wireless email deployed to less than 1.4 percent of business email users, and an estimated 10 percent using prosumer-grade solutions based on webmail and 'redirector' technologies, huge growth opportunities exist within SMEs and the lower echelons of corporations," commented Antoine Mathiaud, Senior Analyst with the Wireless Enterprise Strategies service.

Cliff Raskind, Director of Wireless Enterprise Strategies, added, "Email's role next to the telephone as a basic business communications tool is now rock solid, and its evolution to wireless equally inevitable. However, the march toward mass adoption will be a slow and steady one. Increased competition and market maturity are still needed to catalyze progress in lowering TCO, flexible delivery models, security, IT manageability and inexpensive devices delivering high levels of usability in both voice and email."

Other key findings from this report include:
* Device usability, specifically including the ability to compose and easily navigate across device functions without sacrificing battery, size and style expectations, will be a strong predictor of both email usage levels and repeat device purchase intentions among mobile business users.
* Over 70 percent of business cellular users in Western Europe have a say in their handset style and brand, typically purchasing at retail channels. Success in the next phase of the market will be closely linked to the ability to integrate and preload solutions onto devices that hold both strong voice and data appeal.
