Airspan Uses Horsebridge's Products On Largest WiMax Metro Area Network

Horsebridge's Next Generation GPS Synchronisation Receivers key to Mass Rollout of WiMAX TDD Technology

Cheltenham, UK -/January 13, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Horsebridge Network Systems has been selected by Airspan Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: AIRN) to provide Next Generation Sync technology for the AS.MAX product line which is being used by Yozan, for the world's first major deployment of a WiMAX Metropolitan Area Network.

Yozan launched a commercial service on 25 December, 2005 that is delivering high speed IP connectivity, and supports video, voice and broadband data services.

The initial deployment in Tokyo will use 1,200 units of Horsebridge's Next Generation Sync products to improve the quality and reliability of the data throughput of transmitters and receivers across the entire network. This will improve network capacity and user service speeds, and maximise network throughput. Increasing data throughput ensures high-speed access to the network for potential users around the clock, for the widest range of data services.

Paul Senior, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, Airspan Networks, said, "WiMAX networks issues can often stem from poor synchronisation - networks tend to be synchronised at the core, but not at the edge. As the industry experts in this space, Horsebridge were highly responsive to our needs by offering one of the first cost-effective carrier class solutions for enabling accurate data transmission across the entire metropolitan area. Through this partnership we will be able to ensure quality of service across the network while reducing the risk of any service interruptions to customers from interference."

Horsebridge's products provide a cost effective solution for achieving total network synchronisation - from the core to the edge - enabling a consistent level of service and high quality data transmissions to be delivered across the network. Improving the city-wide synchronisation reduces the interference by adjacent networks, meaning that roaming users are no longer prone to data loss from interruptions of service.

"Today most WiMAX deployments around the world have been trials, or very small commercial rollouts - the deployment in Tokyo demonstrates the massive potential for this technology in the UK and on a worldwide basis," said David O'Connor, managing director of Horsebridge Network Systems. "We are very pleased to be working with Airspan and Yozan on a project likely to shape the global uptake of WiMAX."

Horsebridge's solution will ensure the accuracy of data transmission to and from Airspan's MicroMAX base station. Customers on the Yozan MetroZone will use a range of subscriber units, including Airspan's EasyST, a unique self-installable indoor WiMAX customer premises device. The EasyST provides WiMAX connectivity to the MicroMAX base station and Wi-Fi coverage inside the customers' homes via its integrated WiFi Access Point.

Through its team of expert technical designers and engineering consultants, Horsebridge was able to create a bespoke WiMAX solution for Airspan, tailored to address its specific business critical needs. The consultancy services reviewed each step of the planning, designing and implementation of the communication network system, ensuring consistency and quality of the network.

The Horsebridge Next Generation Sync product portfolio delivers synchronisation for 3G mobile networks, Wi-MAX and HSDPA networks, Mobile Network Radio backhaul links and Triple Play applications.
