-/February 7, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-The mobile-software testing and development company Flander develops the architecture of mobile Linux smartphones. A unique feature of Flander's reference design is that it supports several software vendors.

Flander's extensive experience in the development and testing of wireless solutions ensures full combatibility with different components and provides a delivery quarantee. Flander's target is to develop a full reference architecture that can be tailored by mobile phone and OEM vendors for a variety of products and product families Flander is now looking for partners in the development of this full reference architecture.

"Our business is growing strongly and we have a solid position in the development and testing of mobile software. Linux is becoming an increasingly important operating system in mobile devices. As an independent service company and pioneer, we wish to support Linux development and testing, " says Mika Heikinheimo, Flander's CEO. "We have invested in mobile Linux know-how and our Linux testing is now approaching the level of widely-recognized Symbian know-how."

The reference design is based on Texas Instruments OMAP 2 architecture. TI's OMAP2420 is one of the market's top smartphone processers. The solution consists of a Montavista Linux CEE (Consumer Electronics Edition 3.1) kernel and a Trolltech Qtopia user interface. Integrated on top of this are Java and multimedia features, together with other third-party software components
    in the future.
