D-Link Supports The Expected 802.11n Wireless Wi-Fi Standard
London, -/February 8, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-D-Link, the leading provider of networking and communication solutions to the consumer, SMB and enterprise markets, today announces its resolute company focus on 802.11n technology.
D-Link has been supporting the EWC standard that has now been adopted as the IEEE draft 802.11n. The company is convinced that the draft 11n standard paves the way for a clearer market and supports the concept of the development of standards based, interoperable products.
The first draft 11n has been approved in January 2006. This new standard offers consumers and in particular businesses significant benefits such as interoperability between vendors as well as the standardisation of optional and additional features such as dynamic 40MHz mode using dual channels for increased throughput and packet bursting, enabling higher speeds.
“D-Link has been actively investing in the development and ratification process of draft 11n in collaboration with our technology partners”, explains AJ Wang, Chief Technology Officer, D-Link. “The eventual ratification of 11n ensures that D-Link products are interoperable and continue to lead the market with new high speed, standards based wireless solutions” concludes Wang.
D-Link will continue to support its MIMO range whilst developing a new draft 11n portfolio, featuring Wireless Broadband Routers as well as CardBus, PCI and USB Adapters. Once the final ratification for 802.11n is complete, D-Link expects large scale adoption as many customers have been holding off from upgrading to the proprietary MIMO technology in favour of waiting for the new, interoperable wireless standard.
D-Link will extend the 802.11n standard across its entire portfolio once the final ratification has been made.
