Fortress Technologies and Enterasys Networks to Provide
Secure Wireless Solution
BOSTON – 802.11 Planet – June 26, 2003 – Fortress Technologies, the leader in security for wireless networks, today announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with Enterasys Networks Inc., a global provider of Business Driven Networks™ for enterprise customers.
Enterprise and government users of the Enterasys RoamAbout wireless technology will now be able to work through a trusted vendor to implement FIPS 140 certified authentication and encryption technology to protect against threats and ensure maximum network availability using Fortress’ AirFortress wireless security. Under the terms of the partnership, Enterasys and Fortress Technologies will participate in joint sales and marketing activities directed at current and future customers and partners.
“Wireless networking offers enterprises the ability to increase productivity, service and convenience by providing a level of freedom and flexibility not found in traditional wired networks. Yet, security is a major concern for organizations who must meet the highest level of security standards,” said Marsha Malone, vice president, federal, for Enterasys Networks. “By coupling the power and mobility of Enterasys’ RoamAbout technology with Fortress Technologies’ security solution, users can enjoy the benefits of wireless access while simultaneously adhering to the government’s FIPS 140 security standard.”
AirFortress eliminates the opportunity for hackers to intercept important network data, view internal network addresses or interrupt availability through denial-of-service attacks with Layer 2 encryption and its unique Three-Factor Authentication approach, which provides protection at the network, device and user levels. In addition, AirFortress was the first 802.11 wireless security solution to earn FIPS 140 certification, indicating compliance with government’s stringent security standards.
“Market-proven security is a requirement for organizations evaluating wireless technology today,” said John Dow, senior director of business development, Fortress Technologies. “With this new partnership, Enterasys customers and partners will be able to leverage a trusted vendor relationship to select and implement a best-of-breed security solution that will protect their networks against incident-related downtime and privacy breaches to maximize employee productivity.”
