Developments in Mobile TV to be showcased at the heart of IBC2006

Developments in Mobile TV to be showcased at the heart of IBC2006

London - -/March 28, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-The delivery of broadcast content to mobile devices is set to revolutionise the world of communications. The proliferation of 3G handsets and the introduction of new mobile devices capable of receiving TV images are paving the way for an explosion in Mobile TV over the coming year.

With the potential to allow users to receive anything from news and sport to the latest episode of their favourite soap anywhere they want to be, analysts are forecasting that Mobile TV could outstrip traditional TV as an advertising medium over the next few years. All aspects of this new market will be featured within the Mobile Zone at IBC2006 which runs from 8th - 12th September 2006 within this year's IBC exhibition at the RAI, Amsterdam. This year's Mobile Zone will have a particular focus on Mobile Content, and at more than 1000m? will be double the size, following the success of the zone at last year's show.

The IBC2006 Mobile Zone will bring together applications developers, content providers and technology companies to showcase their capabilities at heart of the world's leading broadcasting exhibition. In addition to demonstrating the latest developments in mobile TV and 3G services, the Mobile Zone will feature the latest innovations in mobile devices and explore their impact on the creation, management and delivery of content. The accompanying IBC Commercial Sessions, to which attendance is free, will examine some of the issues and opportunities arising from this revolution in mobility in further detail.

These free sessions are intended to reinforce and complement the established peer reviewed, paid-delegate IBC Conference. Of particular interest to the mobile community will be the IBC2006 Conference Theme Day "Media on the Move" which takes place on Saturday 9th September 2006 plus a mobile tutorial session on Friday 8th.

The IBC2006 Mobile Zone is being jointly developed and marketed by IBC, IT Europa and BPL.
