Scotland?s Wireless Innovation and France?s PACA Mobile Center join forces

Scotland?s Wireless Innovation and France?s PACA Mobile Center join forces to offer multi-site unique wireless services

-/April 26, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-Two of Europe?s leading mobile technology support organisations have announced a working partnership to lower barriers and further aid in the development and commercialisation of cutting edge mobile applications in the small to medium sized (SME) sector.

Wireless Innovation, Scotland?s national initiative supporting wireless and mobile technologies, and France?s newly launched PACA Mobile Center (PMC) in Marseilles, have forged links to give their SME companies access to critical development resources and networks of commercial partners.

The partnership is enabling both organisations? members to initiate and explore synergies, share important physical resources such as handsets, and open new channels to network operators, handset manufacturers and standardisation institutes.

?Wireless Innovation is at the forefront of providing support and market intelligence to Scottish wireless and mobile developers operating in one of the fastest growing and dynamic sectors in the world,? said Ian Downie, Senior Innovation Manager at Wireless Innovation.

?Our goal is to help businesses understand market trends, technology challenges and identify new routes to market. By partnering with PMC we are hoping to bring new opportunities to our developer community and offer pragmatic solutions to the key challenges faced by this sector now and in the future.?

?In this rapid growing Mobile market, PACA Mobile Center is an international consortium offering shared services and resources, to reduce cost, complexity and development cycle for SMEs and Large corporations, serving more than 20 members as of today, such as Mobile Distillery, Mobivillage, AudioMobile Agency and Miyowa,? said Vincent Berge, president of PMC consortium and General Manager of Mobile Distillery.

?By partnering with Wireless Innovation, a key Mobile player, the objective is to offer unique UK and French services and resources to our respective members. Beyond current complementary services, the new critical mass will explore and provide new Mobile technology horizons, suck as HD SIM card or NFC/RFID opportunities, building international experience and momentum.?

Wireless Innovation and PMC have an immediate synergy in their commitment to provide developers with crucial access to development and test environments. Wireless Innovation has a national test and demo lab which is freely available for use by any Scottish developer, and now PMC members. The lab houses a wide range of commercially available devices which include the latest products launched into the market.

PMC?s aim is to set up a mobile centre dedicated to testing mobile applications during the development phase on mobiles. By sharing these resources, developers will have even greater access to specialist development and test equipment, and increased opportunities to engage with, and demonstrate their products and solutions to, potential customers and commercial partners.

The partnership agreement is expected to further both organisations? aims in supporting the mobile application developer community. Activities will include:

? Sharing data on and providing access to available handsets and network operators.

? Sharing profiles of companies amongst the two groups to encourage collaboration and potential knowledge transfer.

? Sharing relationships/contacts within commercial partners such as network operators, content aggregators and handset vendors, where appropriate.

? Liaising during the supplying and buying process for phones, with operators or manufacturers.

? Networking forums for respective members to develop synergies with other members.
