Tetley to deploy Siroconnect global roaming for its mobile workforce
Tetley Takes Its Tea On The Road
Weybridge, Surrey, -/May 12, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-Sirocom, the UK's fastest growing VNO, today announced that The Tetley Group, one of the world's largest tea brands, is to deploy Siroconnect as the global roaming service for its mobile workforce. Featuring the latest version of iPass Corporate Access(tm), Siroconnect will provide Tetley's employees with simple and reliable access to business applications and the Internet, from home, abroad and while on the move.
Tetley's mobile workforce will use Siroconnect to access corporate resources from their laptops through a wide range of connectivity methods including dial-up, ISDN, GSM, wired Broadband and Wi-Fi. Selected for its service reliability, global coverage and cost-effective pricing model, Siroconnect provides a simple solution to reduce the complexity of managing a remote workforce.
"We evaluated several providers and iPass had the strongest global roaming footprint offering the most comprehensive coverage in developed countries as well as in marginal locations. This is important for us as many of our employees frequently visit partners, distributors and manufacturing facilities in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh where reliable coverage is hard to find. Once we factored in Siroconnect's managed service proposition, we were able to demonstrate a significant improvement in our connectivity in these countries and enable our employees to remain productive," said Russell Sommer, Group
Infrastructure Manager at Tetley.
Despite having over so many of its branded teas used all around the world, Tetley has a relatively small management team so it is vital that employees remain productive wherever business may take them. Through Siroconnect, Tetley's mobile workers now have access to the iPass Global Broadband Roaming network, which includes 261 airports and more than 6,000 hotels with high speed Internet access. It also includes the world's largest Wi-Fi network with more than 40,000 hotspots in 60 countries, accessible through a single user interface. This is particularly significant for Tetley as it intends to encourage the take-up of Wi-Fi, particularly for employees staying in hotels in which Wi-Fi can be the best way to get a fast connection.
Simon Rogan, CEO, Sirocom; "Juggling supply and demand within the manufacturing industry is a fine line. With profitability depending on minimal wastage, a lean approach is critical, and access to operational data essential to maintain this stance. Tetley's management team is a prime example of this approach in action - spread across different time zones and with few opportunities to meet in person, access to business processes and applications, such as email, is vital for day-to-day operations. Siroconnect enables this visibility, even in the most remote locations, and ensures that Tetley employees are armed with real-time information in order to manage supply against demand."
"Tetley recognises that remote workers not only require access to emails but also that they must have access to the necessary resources to action them. Being able to connect to a broad and flexible range of Internet connectivity options is essential to this," commented Paresh Modi, managing director, iPass UK. "iPass is an ideal solution for Tetley because we offer a truly robust remote access service that offers home workers, mobile workers and travelling professionals reliable and consistent connectivity wherever they may be located."
