Vision Objects releases handwriting recognition solution for mobiles

Vision Objects releases handwriting recognition solution for mobiles

Nantes, France, -/May 17, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-Vision Objects, provider of the industry standard in handwriting recognition technology for pen based user interfaces, announces today the release of MyScript Builder Embedded 1.2 dedicated to mobile devices. This new version features additional languages, offers better accuracy and is now also available for Linux.

MyScript Builder Embedded is the only solution on the market able to recognize truly natural handwriting on Linux and Symbian Operating Systems. This Software Development Kit is designed for integration of handwriting recognition capabilities into small footprint platforms such as PDAs, Internet Tablets and Smartphones. It recognizes all handwriting styles in a wide range of languages and addresses markets in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

MyScript Builder Embedded helps manufacturers to create user-friendly, fast and interactive pen based text input methods for a wide range of Personal Information Management applications varying from sending e-mails or SMS messages, to contact management and note taking using the handset to provide interactivity and feedback.

MyScript Builder Embedded provides natural handwriting recognition technology that imposes no writing constraints on users with virtually no learning curve. It includes the recognition of gestures that allows mobile users to write naturally, to insert spaces and line breaks, and to easily correct text by removing characters with a simple and intuitive gesture. This is particularly useful for entering text messages or notes with a stylus on the mobile device.

One of the most innovative aspects of MyScript Builder Embedded 1.2 is its capacity to integrate the use of bi-class language models. Bi-class models calculate the probability of pairs of words occurring together in order to increase overall accuracy. This release also supports a new language pack for Norwegian.

In addition to Symbian and Windows CE, MyScript Builder Embedded 1.2 now also runs on Linux. The support of a wide range of operating systems allows mobile device manufacturers to integrate MyScript handwriting recognition in most platforms, and thereby guarantees the same user experience in any environment. Even proprietary operating systems can be supported on demand.

?This new release demonstrates Vision Objects? ongoing investment into the development of innovative handwriting solutions for the mobile communication market? says Stefan Knerr, CEO and founder of Vision Objects.

MyScript Builder Embedded is currently part of the Nokia Digital Pen Suite, enabling handwritten notes to be sent via S60 devices or Series 80 communicators. ?The handwriting recognition capabilities of MyScript Builder Embedded offer the user an intuitive way of both messaging and processing handwritten text, enhancing the rich feature set of Nokia devices?, says Tatu Lund, Product Manager, Enhancements, at Nokia.

For further information on MyScript Builder Embedded and the solutions developed integrating MyScript handwriting recognition technology, please visit the Vision Objects website at www.visionobjects.com or contact Vision Objects directly.
