Motion Computing Innovates to Meet Environmental Standards
UK, London, -/August 11, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Motion Computing?, a leader in ultra-mobile computing and wireless communications, has refreshed its tablet PCs and peripherals to meet the specifications of the European Union?s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
The RoHS directive requires that manufacturers of electronics products shipped in the EU eliminate or minimize several chemical compounds, including lead. It sets maximum concentration limits for lead, mercury and other substances in new electrical and electronic equipment. All Motion? products currently shipping in the EU are RoHS compliant. Products in the United States will be compliant before stated deadlines.
Motion also is prepared to meet the requirements of the European Union's WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive and is engaged in the development of country-specific implementation schemes to comply with the national WEEE laws. The directive aims to reduce the waste arising from electrical and electronic equipment, and improve the environmental performance of everything involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment.
?Motion is taking a proactive stance on compliance with these protocols ahead of the impending RoHS and WEEE directive deadlines. ,? said Andrew Toal, , Motion UK Business Development Manager . ?The efficiency of our build-to-order business model helps us plan for smooth product transitions and early compliance with various directives while passing along cost savings to our customers. Unlike other technology-producing companies who have suggested that their costs of compliance will need to be passed on to UK end-purchasers, our April price reductions on our tablet PCs and memory upgrades stand.?
