GSM Association's Global Mobile Awards 2007 now open for entry




London-/September 18, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-The GSM Association’s Global Mobile Awards 2007 are now open for entry. Established as the leading awards showcase for the world’s mobile industry, the 12th Annual Awards will culminate in a gala dinner and presentation at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, on 13 February 2007.


“Judged by an independent panel of world leading experts and presented at the mobile world’s biggest annual event, the Global Mobile Awards provide a unique stage on which we recognize and reward the wealth of talent, ingenuity and creativity from all corners of our global eco-system,” said Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association.

The awards are now open for on-line entry at http://www.gsmawards.com, the closing deadline is 30th November 2006.

The Global Mobile Awards reflect the hottest mobile trends, the 2007 categories encompass Best Mobile Innovation - sponsored by Ericsson – as well as Entertainment, Advertising and Enterprise services plus handsets, technology and a new category to demonstrate how mobile communications is ‘bridging the digital divide’ for many millions of people throughout the world.

1b - The Most Innovative Technology Development

Category 2 - Mobile Entertainment
2a - Best 'Made for Mobile' Game

2d - Best 'Made for Mobile' Infotainment for Sports & News Content

Category 3 - Mobile Services
3a - Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Service
3b - Best Mobile Messaging Service

Category 4 - Best Mobile Handsets
4a - Best GSM Mobile Handset or Device
4b - Best 3GSM Mobile Handset or Device

Category 5 - Marketing and Promotion
5a - Best Broadcast Commercial
5b - Best Mobile Advertising

Category 6 - 'Bridging the Digital Divide'
6a - Best Use of Mobile for Social & Economic Development
6b - Best Ultra Low Cost Handset

Category 7 - Best Technology
7a - Best Radio Access Product or Service
7b - Best Network Quality Initiative

Category 8 - GSM Association Chairman's Award

• Leadership award for best practice telecommunications regulation

The culmination of the Global Mobile Awards 2007 will be a gala dinner at Barcelona’s opulent National Palace (Palau Nacional) on Tuesday 13th February 2007. Tickets to this, the mobile industry’s ‘Oscars night’ are strictly limited and also available from http://www.gsmawards.com
