Fortress and General Dynamics to Offer Wireless Solutions to Governments

Fortress Technologies, General Dynamics Team to Provide End-to-End Secure Wireless Solutions to Federal, State, Local and International Governments

TAMPA, Fla. -/October 05, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Fortress Technologies, a leader in secure wireless networking, announced it has secured a reseller agreement with General Dynamics C4 Systems (C4S), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), to resell the Fortress suite of secure wireless solutions to the government market.

Under the terms of the agreement, General Dynamics C4 Systems will package Fortress technologies with its mobile, rugged notebooks and servers, providing comprehensive solutions for mission-critical military and government operations. Primarily focused on command and control, communications networking, space systems, computing and information assurance, General Dynamics C4 Systems will market, sell and service Fortress solutions globally.

“General Dynamics can do more for our customers with this agreement,” said Tom Turner, Vice President and General Manager of Computing Technologies for General Dynamics C4 Systems. “Our products are used by numerous military, national security, public safety and first response agencies to collect and transmit extremely sensitive information. They are often in a deployed location that has no available infrastructure. This agreement will enable our customers to securely extend mission critical communications to the most demanding environments.”

The reseller relationship with Fortress complements the General Dynamics C4 Systems line of Type 1 (SECRET and above) security solutions for wired and wireless voice and data.

Fortress’ Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) FIPS 140-2 certified solutions will be integrated with the General Dynamics suite of enterprise computing platforms, notebooks, high-performance servers and ultra-thin clients. The combination enables General Dynamics to offer the government market a full-range of end devices – from ultra-thin clients to fully ruggedized notebooks – in a completely secure format across all wireless transports – including Wi-Fi (802.11), WiMAX (802.16), free space optics (FSO), Military RF and satellite.

A major component of the reseller agreement is Fortress’ new ES520, a secure wireless access bridge that combines wireless, switching and security services in a small and rugged form factor. Functioning as a self-contained network or as a secure wireless access point/bridge, the ES520 is ideally suited to integrate with the General Dynamics established product base. This integration enables “on-demand” secure voice, video and data communications, as well as rapid deployment of incident response and tactical networks or fixed wireless applications.

“The ability of federal, state, local and international government agencies to share information securely is critical to the success of any mission,” said Janet Kumpu, President and Chief Executive Officer, Fortress. “We are excited about the opportunity to team with General Dynamics, a clear market leader, to provide these agencies a complete, end-to-end secure wireless information sharing solution.”
