WiFiMobile Adds 24,000 Phone Lines From AccessLine Communications
-/October 30, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/-WiFiMobile, the leading supplier of dual-mode mobile phones that support Wi-Fi in addition to GSM services and applications, has acquired a customer base of 24,000 phone lines from AccessLine Communications, the market leader in providing hosted communications and managed voice services to the Small to Medium Business (SMB) market place.
Formed in 2002, WiFiMobile earlier this year announced the launch of WiFiMobile/PBX, an application based on Nokia’s S60 3rd Edition Platform, designed to turn a mobile phone into an extension to a corporate PBX system.
Four years on from its launch in Santa Monica, the business, headed up by communications expert and CEO Gerry O’Prey, has opened an office in the UK. The company is poised to achieve phenomenal growth in the next year through organic means as well as through acquisitions like the one just announced.
As the man behind Dataflex Holdings, which he founded and led to its full listing on the London Stock Exchange, O’Prey has developed a number of European technology ‘firsts’ and believes that WiFiMobile is set to be his highest impact development yet. While Dataflex was a key force in the liberalisation of fixed-line telephony in Europe in the late nineties, WiFiMobile is offering technology that can significantly influence the mobile arena through fixed mobile convergence.
Says O’Prey: “WiFiMobile is delighted to announce this acquisition. Customers are the most valuable asset of any telecommunications business and we anticipate this being a stepping stone to becoming a major player in the market. We are now at the fastest growth and development stage of the mobile telecoms market since its inception and the Wi-Fi revolution is really in its infancy compared to what we expect to see in the next few years.”
