    TAMPA, Fla. -/November 15, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Fortress Technologies, a leading provider of secure wireless networking, announced that its FC-X Series of security controllers have been awarded a Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 level 2 certificate (Cert. #718) from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).



    In order to earn the FIPS certification, Fortress? FC-X Series of security controllers were put through rigorous testing by an accredited independent lab and reviewed by NIST, ensuring they satisfy the government?s high standards for use within agency networks.

FC-X Series of security controllers are capable of processing throughputs up to 1.9 Gigabits per second (Gbps), offering government customers a solution that meets the requirements for high-performance wireless optics links, as well as agency-wide wireless networking deployments. FC-X Series security controllers work across all wireless transports ? including Wi-Fi (802.11), WiMAX (802.16), free space optics (FSO), Military RF and satellite.
